The Tensile PV product is unique to SKYShades and is the lightest of our solar offerings weighing as little as 25% compared to some glass panels.
Tensile PV comprises of a lightweight aluminium frame with a tensioned membrane (think O2 Arena) substrate to which thin film PV has been bonded.
The lightweight and flexible properties of Tensile PV means it is ideal to be installed onto asbestos, tin, corrugated iron, metal and membrane roofs. Other benefits include:
- Installation of long standing, proven thin film PV with 20 years data
- Thin film on average is 14% more efficient than traditional panels per Kwp installed
- Low visual impact
- Highly resistant to damage
- Non glare
- Tear resistant
- Easy to maintain
The tensile membrane itself is made from high-tenacity polyester yarn which when tensioned keeps completely straight. The yarns are coated for protection against UV, pollution and abrasion. It is 100% recyclable and comes available in 40 colours.
